Godot 4 is Now in Beta

It has been a long road to Godot 4.0 with 17 alpha builds distributed in 2022, and continuous development effort since 2019. We aren’t done yet, but today marks a major milestone on the road to Godot 4.0: the first beta is out!

We're getting prepared for the imminent release of Godot 4.0 beta 1, and to do so we're having a (last?) alpha 17 release to ensure that things work as best as we can reasonably expect before the beta phase.

A procedural hex barrier shader.

This shader is used to blend between meshes and terrain, it is applied to the mesh. The blending works via the alpha value, but this has the problem that the meshes look like they are floating above the terrain. The problems of non-convex meshes, are avoided by setting the render_mode to depth_draw_alpha_prepass.

Tic Tac Toe like you have never seen it before. In the quantum version, you get to make two moves on each turn. You play multiple potential games at once until there is a conflict that must be resolved. See if you can beat the computer in advanced mode once you get the hang of the game. Its not as easy as you think, and there will a lot of ties like in the classic version until you advance your skills to the next level.

In march 2019, I created a project on Game Maker to learn how to make games, something that i love since I was a kid, but the game was rough, broken and I had no idea of design and/or programming at that time - except for music, that I was (and still am) in a music school.

Babazooka is our new puzzle platformer game. It is about the small Dino Character who is stuck in a puzzle world. The main puzzle elements in the game are these boxes that achieve different functions. We have designed this game to stimulate the player's thinking as the player tries to help the Dino figure out how to use the boxes to achieve each level's objective. 

IMPORTANT: to play with other people, you need to port forward your modem/router. This game uses port 5683, so forward that port.

I made this game for LOWREZJAM, it was almost complete but I didn't have time to compose or find good music... Maybe I'll polish it a little bit later.

As the name says, it's a simple Dungeon Crawler prototype with a 2.5D perspective. It was made using the Godot Engine and a couple of free assets.

What's even more strange, after finding out a poem book, she finds it in herself to lift a mallet her size (and she doesn't even like poetry). Which is  lucky, since she needs to get out of sticky situations and defend herself against... the eyes?

This little demo project is a loose Godot implementation of Wave Function Collapse algorithm. Wave Function Collapse is an algorithm for procedural generation of images (or levels / meshes / geometry / poetry, etc.) that are locally similar to the input. This implementation uses the tiled model of the algorithm and builds tiles connections automatically by analyzing border pixels colors.
